SHILLONG: The New Umtru Contractor Association (NUCA) in Byrnihat has alleged favourtism by PS Thangkhiew, the CMD of MeECL, and demanded that he should release the bills of the contractors who worked on the project.
In a statement issued here, NUCA president PS Marshillong and advisor L Kharbuki alleged that Thangkhiew released crores of rupees to a contractor from outside the state whereas the local contractors were deprived of the benefit.
The NUCA members said they would meet Power Minister James Sangma and urge him to release pending bills of the local contractors.
) NUCA has demanded that Thangkhiew be removed from the post of CMD as it claimed that other CMDs were busy looking for funds whereas Thangkhiew wanted to control everything, including payments and distributing work orders.
The organisation said the members had made several failed attempts to meet the CMD and every time his PA would give excuses.
