SHILLONG: The residents of Paltan Bazar (Jeep Stand) have appealed to the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) Central Division as well as the Syiem of Hima Mylliem over different issues that are plaguing the area.
In a letter to the authorities on Friday, the residents demanded that the dilapidated road in Paltan Bazar should be repaired and maintained well.
The letter stated that the residents had to face difficulty as the broken road was neglected for years.
The existing congestion and the high density of commercial traffic have already subsumed irrevocable damage and continue to inconvenience commuters, it pointed out.
In another letter to the Syiem of Hima Mylliem, the residents demanded that the authority should repair and maintain the deteriorated drain from Iewduh to the adjoining locality.
The residents also made a plea to shift the garbage and waste disposal from Jeep Stand to another location with limited or no human habitation.
