1100 kg of marijuana seized

Nongpoh: In yet another major catch in Ri Bhoi District, the police under Byrnihat Police Outpost acting on a tip off, on Saturday morning intercepted a truck bearing registration number TR-01-D-1606 and also seized huge consignment of marijuana at 12 Mile, Byrnihat along National Highway 6.
    According to police sources, it was informed that, after getting an input over the movement of the supplier through the highway in the district, the police swiftly laid the trap in which they successfully managed to intercept it.
When the police inspected the truck they found the consignment well-packed and consisted of 58 bags weighing over 1100kg amounting over 20 to 30 lakhs. It was hidden under the well makeshift under the truck.
Sources from the police, also informed that, the consignment was brought from Tripura and was supposed to be delivered to Assam. The police also arrested the driver and the helper and are under custody. Investigation is on to nab the suppliers of the consignment.
