MAWKYRWAT: The South West Khasi Hills unit of the FKJGP has expressed concern over the delay in distribution of PDS rice by the wholesaler of the Photkroh Centre, Ranikor Block, though distribution order for February has been received.
FKJGP general secretary Balse Kharbani said after receiving complaints from the locals, the federation met some dealers in the area. The members were informed that the order has been received but wholesaler P Syiemlieh did not come to distribute the rice till now.
“This has created a lot of problems for the dealers who have to answer to the people in villages over the delay and also to the people who depends on the PDS rice,” Kharbani said.
The federation has sought the deputy commissioner’s intervention.
FKJGP also said the DC should inform people through local newspapers when order for PDS supplies was issued.
“We were also surprised when we got the information that the distribution of sugar in this district has been stopped in the last few months. We will meet the DC again as the distribution of rice and sugar is regular every month in other districts,” Kharbani said.
