TURA: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ramkumar S has issued prohibitory orders against the killing of fish in rivers and streams in the district   by use of illegal methods.

As per the order, prohibition has been made on the use of dynamite, generators, bleaching powder, DDT/other poisonous chemicals/herbs or any other unnatural method which will result in mass killing of fish.

The order comes following a Facebook post showing villagers catching a large number of fishes from a community fish sanctuary in the Simsang River by exploding dynamite recently. The FB post had sparked outrage among FB users who condemned the mass killing of fishes.
