Lambor spoke to The Shillong Times about his priorities.
ST: Can you tell us about your plan?
Lambor: We have to lift the face of Meghalaya and we will dedicate ourselves to achieve that goal under Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. All have been given responsibilities to ensure better governance.
ST: What are your expectations?
Lambor: There are varied issues which need attention. People expect a lot from us. Since we are mostly from the young generation, we are all the more committed to ensuring that the schemes are implemented.
ST: Planning Board is always considered as a rehabilitation centre for defeated politicians.
Lambor: The Board is not a rehabilitation centre. Always, the post is held by a sitting legislator.
It is a prestigious body and I am honoured that MDA gave me a chance to perform and we expect to bring about a lot of changes.
ST: What is the role of the Planning Board?
Lambor: We have to follow up various schemes. As a chairman, I will have to tie up with officers of different departments to understand the ground reality. We will tour all the district headquarters.
ST: Is Planning Board a toothless body?
Lambor: It is not toothless. It all depends on how you utilise it as power is very much there.
ST: What about the pending schemes?
Lambor: We will work out this. The government is just formed. We will try to understand the nature of pending schemes by carrying out study.
