SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government has sought feedback from various line departments to sort out the growing traffic menace in Shillong.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday convened a meeting with the officials of the Police Department, Urban Affairs and other line departments in presence of Home Minister James K. Sangma to discuss on Shillong traffic.
During the meeting, Conrad Sangma said that the Government is keen find out means and ways to address the growing traffic jams in the city and hence all the line departments have been asked to give their feedback on how to ease out traffic in the city.
Sources informed that this was the first round of the meeting and another meeting would be held shortly after different departments come up with their suggestions and feedbacks.
It may be mentioned that Shillong police earlier had recommended the State Government to engage some consultation firm to conduct a study and see what mechanism would be feasible in Shillong to ease the traffic congestion.
