SHILLONG: Members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to discuss implementation of its building bylaws, which were declared “unauthorised” by the previous government.
Executive Member (EM) in charge Trade Antonio War said the members had decided to approach the government to get details of the implementation of the KHADC Building Bylaws 2015 in schedule areas.
War was replying to a supplementary question by Congress MDC Lamphrang Blah.
The Executive Committee of the KHADC has not notified the cell/body for the implementation of the Building by-laws in the scheduled areas.
Raising a supplementary query, Leader of the Opposition Mansturdy Nongrem said the Committee should not take things for granted.
“If the EC member said the KHADC building bylaws has been notified as unauthorised (then) why was it announced in the House earlier that the KHADC building bylaws were effective and people should be informed to come and apply for the same?”
He added that he had even circulated copies of building bylaws to the Syiem and headman urging people to apply for the same from the council.
