Arunachal govt scholarships uploaded on NSP

GUWAHATI: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday launched the on-boarding of scholarships schemes of  Arunachal Pradesh  government onto the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), which is first in the country customised exclusively for the state of Arunachal.

He congratulated the IT department for the initiative, which will benefit thousands of Arunachali students studying all over India by e-enabling the scholarship process. “It’s an another feather in the cap for the IT department to achieve excellence in digital governance,” said the CM.

All the scholarship/stipend schemes of Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh have been on-boarded onto the NSP and been made accessible to all. Major benefit of the NSP exercise has been de-duplication and elimination of multiple scholarships by an individual saving Govt.’s fund to the tune of Rs. 3 Crores of 1500 application forms, said the Chief Minister and requested all Departments and Govt. Organisations to adopt IT for transparency, accountability and efficiency.

He appreciated the achievements of IT department in processing more than 45000 applications and disbursing an amount of Rs 16.13 crore under Directorate of Higher & Technical Education (DHTE) and Rs 26 crore under SJETA department through NSP.

Chief Secretary Satya Gopal applauded the hard work put in by all the stakeholders especially Dept. of IT, NIC, Dept. of DHTE and SJETA to achieve the milestone on time with the limited manpower and for aligning with the vision of Digital Arunachal.

He said all the stakeholders, Department of IT & Communication, NIC, Department of Higher and Technical Education, Department of SJETA and the Banks have worked dedicatedly to achieve the vision of Hon’ble CM for a transparent, accountable process and direct delivery of the scholarship to students without any leakage.

Special Secretary IT Prince Dhawan presented the brief on the NSP to all and explained the process, features and benefits of the NSP. He also requested the Govt. to mandate the on-boarding of all/future scholarship schemes onto NSP for the benefit of APST students.

National Scholarships Portal is one-stop solution through which various services starting from student application, receipt, processing, sanction and disbursal of various scholarships/stipends of Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and Central Govt. schemes are e-enabled. It aims at providing common electronic portal for implementing various Scholarships schemes launched by Union Government, State Government and Union Territories across the country

At present 3 Schemes of Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh are covered under NSP – Stipend of DHTE, Umbrella Scheme for Education of Pre-Metric Scholarship for ST Children of SJETA and Umbrella Scheme for Education of Post-Metric Scholarship for ST Children of SJETA.

Also present were PHED & Water Supply Minister Bamang Felix, Parliamentary Secretary UD Techi Kaso, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal and other Govt. officers and students.
