Assam govt takes steps to provide relief to storm hit

GUWAHATI: In the wake of the devastating and cyclonic storms that have occurred in several parts of the state in last few days, all Deputy Commissioners and Sub-Divisional Officers are directed to initiate immediate steps for making assessment and sanction rehabilitation grant to the affected families accordingly as per State Disaster Relief Fund norms within seven days and submit the sanction order to the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Assam for releasing fund against the same.

They are directed to provide shelter and relief materials to the affected families and they are further directed to make immediate payment of ex- gratia grant to the next of kin of deceased from the  relief  fund subject to recoupment of the amount by sanctioning and sending the same to the Revenue and Disaster Management Department at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Assam chief minister SarbanandaSonowal has directed the deputy commissioners of the cyclonic storms hit districts to take steps for immediate distribution of relief and financial assistance to the storm-hit people and provide details to the state headquarter regarding the quantum of relief provided in cash and kind.
