SHILLONG: The state government is yet to write to the Centre on the need to entrust the probe into the killing of NCP candidate from Williamnagar Jonathone Sangma to NIA.
Home Minister James Sangma said the government is yet to take a decision on the matter.
After Jonathone was killed on February 18 by suspected GNLA militants, there were demands from several quarters to hand over the probe to NIA.
The coalition partner NCP had petitioned the government to hand over the case to NIA.
When his response was sought, James said, “NCP has given the representation. We are examining it now.”
