SHILLONG: Health Minister AL Hek informed that he has not received any information or reports about the complaint of alleged anomalies committed by KPC Group which is handling the project of medical college and hospital project in Jhalupara on PPP mode.
When asked on the allegation raised by the CSWO on the project given to the KPC Group headed by Kali Pradip Chaudhuri, Hek said, “We have not received any information so far.”
However, he said, “If people want to work with the government but also indulge in illegal activities, how we can allow that.”
As for the Shillong Medical College, he said the meeting to discuss the matter was postponed as he went to Delhi.
Recently, the CSWO opposed the move of the state government to hand over the project to KPC Group.
Khasi language recognition
Hek who also holds the post of Arts and Culture, said that the inclusion of Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule will have to be studied.
Stating that so far the process to include Khasi language is still pending, he said, “The status of the matter will have to be studied.”
“Khasi language was recognized as Associate official language since 2005 but Khasi language has not been included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India,” he added.
Meanwhile, a member of Khasi Authors’ Society (KAS) said, “On the part of the organization, we will approach the state government to pursue the matter to expedite the process to take up with the Central government.”
Another government official told The Shillong Times, “The government is still processing the matter.”
