Two killed in road mishap
JOWAI: Two persons died in a head-on collision between a scooty and a Maruti car at Mihmyntdu village in West Jaintia Hills on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Lastborn Swer (28) of Khliehtyrshi village and Kheinbha Lamare (33) of Saphai village.  Both died on the way to Ialong District Hospital.

 Illegal arms seized
JOWAI: West Jaintia Hills police arrested Heipormi Bareh (28) of Khanduli village for possessing a pistol (.22mm) without licence. Police seized the gun along with six live ammunitions and a case under Arms Act was registered against the accused.

Auction of seized coal
Jowai: The Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District has informed that the auction of the seized coal lying at Police Reserve area, Jowai, at 7th Mile (Land of Karbar Tyngkan) West Jaintia Hills and at Amsarim weigh bridge scheduled to be held on March 19 has been postponed to April 25 at 2.30 pm in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner.
