KSU presses for renaming of Lady Hydari Park in Shillong

SHILLONG: Members of Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) gathered outside the park to reiterated their demand to rename the Lady Hydari Park in the city as Phan Nonglait Park on Tuesday on the occasion of Khasi Awakening Day.
Speaking to reporters, KSU president, Lambokstarwell Marngar said the government had decided to rename Lady Hydari Park to Phan Nonglait Park on September 11, 2001 which has not been implemented till date.
“We demand that the state government should rename the Park as Phan Nonglait Park as she was one of the prominent  freedom fighters who fought against the British regime,” he said.
