Ad hoc teachers seek government intervention

SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Ad hoc Upper Primary School Teachers Association has urged the government to provide adequate facilities to the teachers.
In a petition sent to the government, the teachers’ body said that though the government raised the salary for assistant teachers, it wanted the pay of the teachers to be at a par with the ad hoc amalgamated upper primary school teachers.
The association also pointed out pay disparity between SSA upper primary school teachers and ad hoc upper primary school teachers.
The association requested the government to upgrade the ad hoc upper primary schools to deficit and also urged the government to appoint one each hindi and mathematics teacher. As far as untrained teachers are concerned, the association asked the government to appoint them as regular trainees in institutes rather than opting for online programmes or distance learning, The teachers’ body also requested the government to provide school buildings due to the scarcity of classrooms.
