Amit Kumar new Advocate General of Meghalaya

SHILLONG:  State Government has decided to appoint senior advocate  from the Supreme Court , Amit Kumar as the new Advocate General of the state.

Informing this here on Friday after  taking the decision in the Cabinet meeting, Minister in charge, Law, James Sangma said that Amit Kumar had good track record and   the State Government had gone strictly on the basis of merit while selecting the Advocate General.

When asked about the demand of the Shillong Bar Association  who wanted the new advocate general from the state, James Sangma said that Amit Kumar is a member of the Bar Council of the Shillong   High Court and he has experience both in the High Court as well as the Supreme Court,.

“ We believe his experience will bring a lot of advantage for the Government, “ Sangma said.
