SHILLONG: A proposal for providing irrigation system at Them Lyngkien and Them Lyngiong in East Khasi Hills has been prepared by the government, informed Minister of Water Resources Metbah Lyngdoh on Tuesday.
The government has advanced irrigation system and the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Them Lyngkien Water Resources Project has been allotted to WAPCOS Limited, a Government of India undertaking.
The minister, while replying to a query by Independent MLA SK Sunn, said the DPR is yet to be submitted.
At present, a preliminary survey and investigation of Them Lyngiong Irrigation Project is underway.
In a supplementary reply, Lyngdoh said there is no target date as some process has to be followed by the department and WAPCOS to carry out investigation and survey as far as the programme is concern.
He, however, added that WAPCOS has submitted a draft DPR of the project.
