Meghalaya govt urged to create a subdivision at Mawsynram

SHILLONG: With NPP MLA from Dalu, Brening A Sangma asking for creation of a new Civil Sub-Division at Dalu, Congress MLA Mawsynram HM Shangpliang urged the state government to consider a Civil Sub-Division in Mawsynram.

Referring to the statement that Dalu Civil Sub-Division is being examined by the government, Shangpliang requested the state government to consider a Civil Sub-Division in Mawsymram.

He said, “Civil Sub-Division is a long felt need to the people of Mawsynram.”

In this connection, the Speaker said, “It is question and not request hour.”

Asked by Congress MLA PT Sawkmie on the number of Civil Sub-Divisions in the state, James informed there were eight Civil Sub-Divisions — Mairang, Amlarem, Sohra, Pynursla, Dadenggre, Chokpot, Raksamgre and Mawshynrut.

Replying to another supplementary query raised by Sawkmie on the money involved for Civil Sub-Division, James said it depends on the location and areas which differs from place to place.

Status of Umsawnongbri PHC

Minister of Health and Family Welfare, AL Hek said that the construction of Umsdawnongbri PHC in Ri-Bhoi district was yet to begin since the Tender Committee held on June 30, 2017 to deliberate on the tender for allotment of works found that the PWD schedule of Rates for Buildings for the year 2013-14 was not workable.

“At present, the estimate has been recast as per the current PWD Schedule of Rates for the year 2015-16 and the proposal is being taken up now for re-sanction as per the current PWD Schedule of Rates for the year 2015-16,” he said.

Replying to a supplementary query by Congress MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Hek said that the previous estimate is Rs 8,34,92,600 and the re-estimate amount is Rs 9,71,12,400.

Pointing out that the foundation stone for the PHC has been laid Syiem sought an assurance from the Minister to get the PHC complete. Hek said, “All effort will be made to make it happen.”

Football ground at Nongspung Village

The Sport & youth Affairs Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh said the improvement of football playground at Nongspung, East Khasi Hills had been proposed at a sanction amount of Rs 12.42 lakh during the year 2015-16 on March 31, 2016.

This was in reply to question posed by Independent MLA, SK Sunn who sought queries about the football ground at Nongspung village in Mawphlang.

Stating that physical progress is 30 per cent and financial progress is zero per cent, Lyngdoh said, “The work for improvement of the football ground is in progress.”

Sunn asked the minister on the time-frame to complete the project to which Lyngdoh said the works would be completed by December 2018.

Improve of new Water Supply scheme

In reply to a question posed by Congress MLA Azad Zaman, PHE minister Samlin Malniang said there was no plan to create and improve new Water Supply Scheme in Rajpur Hills, Wadakhogre and Babilgre.

However, Malniang said investigation for new scheme had been taken up for Songjalgre, Thakimagre and Rajabala Hills.
