SHILLONG: PWD Minister Prestone Tynsong has said he will ensure that road signs on national and state highways are installed for safety of commuters.
Replying to a question by Mawphlang MLA SK Sunn, Tynsong said since so many accidents have happened in the past, he would call all officials of the department after the Budget session to ensure that road markings are installed.
Tynsong also said proper marking of speed breakers for easy identification and signboards warning drivers about speed breakers will also be done.
The High Court recently directed the Public Works Department to put appropriate markings wherever speed breakers have been installed and paint the 43 zebra crossings in the city within six weeks. It also asked the department to file an affidavit of compliance along with photographs.
