Vice President calls for coaching to NE students

SHILLONG:  Vice president, Venkaiah Naidu  on Monday stressed on the need to provide special coaching to the youths of the North  East to enable them to get into IIIMs,  IITs   and Civil Services .

Delivering the convocation address at the IIM Shillong , Venkaiah Naidu  further urged upon the North Eastern Council  to facilitate coaching  to the youths of the region.

Naidu  while remembering former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who died in IIM Shillong few years back  said that the greatest tribute to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam  would be to follow his footsteps  even as he added that the people’s President was a simple man with great ideas

Calling for academic empowerment of women,  he also urged upon the people to preserve their local language  even though he maintained that people should learn as many languages as possible

“  The dialects of the North East must be preserved but   we  should not be against any other language,” he said.

Earlier, he added that India may have  many  ethnic groups and religion and the approach of everyone should be as Indians.

Stating that religion is way of worshipping and culture is a way of life,   the Vice President he also suggested the IIM graduates they should not go abroad now  as people from outside instead are coming to India which has potential in every sector

. “The 21st century belongs to India an  only Indian economy is moving forward,” he said

Supporting the move of demonetization and Goods and Service Tax (GST), the purpose of demonetization was to see that people’s money reaches bank from their bedrooms and kitchens.

On GST, the vice president said that  it was a reform which would change the economy of the country in future. He further said that there was a need for inclusive growth of the backward areas of the country.
