Editor,

There has been a lot of hue and cry on the rape and murder related reports across the country. Not a single day passes when such reports are not flashed in the print and electronic media. The number of cases, it seems, have gone up especially after the ‘’Nirbhaya episode” when the entire nation stood and protested in one voice for punishment to the perpetrators of the crime. Once a  case is reported, then not a single day passes without protests but where is the justice? So far how many have been convicted? There should be special courts where quick justice is given to the victims of such heinous crimes and the culprits be given stringent punishment like death sentence or severing of their genitals.

The Government & the Judiciary should be alert in dealing with such cases and allow no delay

Women makes us proud!

Editor,

Women have been subjugated by making them live under a manufactured halo of machismo in a misogynistic society where the word “effeminate” is used as an abuse. Moreover, they have no right to perform the last rites of their parents.  All these myths have made such a dent in our mindsets that many Indian parents – rich or poor – want to have a male child. This causes girl foeticide and infanticide which make child sex ratio (0-6 years) come down from 945 girls for 1000 boys in 1991 to 927 in 2001 to 914 in 2011 census.

Amid such a horrible scenario of killing of daughters in a society which fails to appreciate that women have as much potentialities as their male counterparts, Indian women weightlifters, shooters, paddlers, boxers and shuttlers have bagged gold medals for our country in the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. Hats off to Mirabai Chanu, Sanjita Chanu, Punam Yadav, Manika Batra, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, Manu Bhaker, Heena Sidhu, Apurvi Chandela, Tejaswini Satawant, Anjum Moudgil, Shreyasi Singh, Mehuli Ghosh and others for their golden performances at CWG.

Each of their medals must make those parents who have killed their daughters realize that they are not only cruel but stupid as well.

Disturbing trend of rape & sexual crimes!

Editor,

Day by day the disturbing incidents of rape and molestation are increasing. Even more disturbing is the gruesomeness in which the crimes are being committed. Rape is being used as an instrument of settling communal grudges. What is appalling is minor girls who are yet to differentiate between male and female are being raped by people fit to be their grandparents!

As a society we need to deeply ponder what may be amiss in our social or human upbringing that has led to this abysmal moral decadence. Is it the casual attitude towards such heinous crimes or the lack of deterrent punishment that such crimes are sky-rocketting with each passing day? Our legislators also need to play a sensible role here and should know that this is not the time to play the blame game as to which community is responsible and which community is the victim. Rape is one of the gravest of human crimes and calls for the severest of action and hardest of reforms to purge such vileness from the society.

Data leaks via Facebook!

Editor

Mark Zuckerberg as the CEO of Facebook and allied groups has made unprecedented amount of money and is known to be a dedicated and caring family man. Yet when it comes to data fraud steaming from his own organization and numerous cases of serious Facebook and other social media platforms being used in communal brain washing, criminal activities, stalking and espionage activities, character assassinations, personal humiliations, disrespectful and hateful comments directed towards specific nations, communities and individuals, very little has been done by this superbly intelligent ‘so called’ family man. Zuckerberg only cares for his business profits and has never shown or taken any responsibility towards illegal, illogical, dangerous and negative use of his social media platform. Now as the data fraud heat is burning his company he has hidden behind a veil of silence and will certainly talk about his innocence and non involvement with the process. While Face book has made this world into a global village it has also damaged millions of people and their lives and livelihood. With the data leak from his dedicated customers, Zuckerberg needs to be brought to justice and tried for his alleged role in illegally sharing customer information with other vendors with economic and political interests with serious allegations like data theft and data manipulation. This is a crime against humanity. Facebook compromised security, dignity and personal information of millions of people who trusted Zuckerberg as an honest businessman and a dedicated and responsible family man. We are all equal in this world; but some are more equal than others!
