SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Electronic Media Association (MEMA) has condemned those behind a petrol bomb attack at the residence of The Shillong Times Editor, Patricia Mukhim, on Tuesday night.

“No one should come under attack in this society for simply doing their job. This kind of reckless criminality will not be tolerated,” MEMA president, Kyrmenlang Uriah said in a statement.

“We are concerned about the growing incidents of violence against journalists who play a crucial role in enabling citizens to know what is happening around, to keep the public informed and to expose the misdeeds of the mighty and powerful,” he added.

MEMA has appealed to the Police to track down those responsible and punish them according to the law of the land.
