SHILLONG: The Young Talent Badminton Club, Mawlai has urged the state government to look into issues concerning the sports department in its preparation for the National Games 2022.

“We have to ask ourselves as to how many medals our athletes will win. Even the construction of stadium and selection of players should have started by now. The players need training in different academies outside the state,” the club said in a statement.

It may be mentioned the state government is making preparations to host the National Games here in Shillong.

The club expressed gladness the players received support from individuals whereas no such support came from the government.

The club said the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs had not yet released the schemes which the club has applied for last year.

Players from the Young Talent Badminton Club, Mawlai will participate at the North East Junior Badminton Tournament to be held at Itanagar during April 25 – 30.
