SHILLONG: Opposing the establishment of Battalion Headquarter by the Border Security Force (BSF) at Rangthong, Mawkyrwat, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) met the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM, PN Syiem asking him not to issue NOC in this regard.

President of KSU South West Khasi Hills Unit, Forwardman Nongrem told reporters on Monday that KHADC should intervene to ensure that land acquisition of the two clans, Sanglein Basan and Syiemlieh Sawkpoh should not proceed.

According to the union, the village of Rangthong is 12 kms from Mawkyrwat and the village is safe. Further, the union argued the land will become Cantonment area which will be under the control of Defence and Home Affairs and not with the KHADC.
