Nairobi, April 27 (IANS) London Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has refused to confirm if he will compete at the World Athletics Championships in Doha next year.

Speaking on arrival in Eldoret on Friday, the Kenyan runner said the decision on where to run rests with his coach Patrick Sang and his management team, reports Xinhua news agency.

“For now I take a deserved rest and recover. I hope to get back to my best form soon because the shoes I used are meant to speed up the recovery and they were comfortable,” he told Xinhua.

Kipchoge has conquered every course he has competed except the World Marathon Championships. He was selected for the London 2017 World Championships but declined to honour the call and instead went for a record attempt at the Berlin Marathon.

Kipchoge has registered wins in Hamburg, Rotterdam, Berlin, London (three times), Chicago, the Rio Olympics and Monza (Italy). Of all this top achievements, he believes his latest win in London was the hardest because of the high temperatures.

The 33-year old, says he still has his focus on the 2:02:57 world record mark of compatriot Dennis Kimetto.

Kipchoge won over $350,000 in his victory at the London marathon. This includes $250,000 from the World Marathon Majors, $55,000 and a $50,000 time bonus for running under two hours and five minutes.
