HPF urges Meghalaya govt to solve vexed boundary disputes with Assam

SHILLONG: Raising concerns over alleged encroachment of Assam across the state boundary of   Meghalaya, the Hynniewtrep People’s Federation (HPF) has demanded the state government to resolve the long pending border issue in Ri-Bhoi.

Concerned over the border disputes, the HPF, Ri Bhoi district unit, formed the Tyrso Circle with an aim to strengthen the presence of the organisation in border areas of Assam and Meghalaya.

The president of the new circle is Jesril Mangu, vice-president Phardes Mangu besides other members.

The leaders of the circle expressed disappointment over the alleged encroachment of Meghalaya land by Assam through setting up of a police outpost at Umru.
