GUWAHATI: Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) secretary and coordinator of the BCCI NADP Committee, Naba Bhattacharjee, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to accord full member  status to the Northeast states apart from the apex court’s move to reconsider the contentious one-state-one-vote mandate in BCCI.

The Supreme Court had on Tuesday agreed for a relook on the contentious aspects of Lodha panel recommendations, while observing that cricket associates in states which have played a significant role cannot be left out.

The apex court has also decided that the Northeast states would have representation and that full member status will be given to them.

“This is indeed good news for cricket in the region. This is in tune with what I had demanded in the seven-member committee meeting of BCCI,” Bhattacharjee told The Shillong Times on Tuesday.
