Railway staffs help newborn, mother

GUWAHATI: On-duty railway staff rendered prompt medical help to a lady passenger who gave birth to a girl while travelling by the 15903 Down Dibrugarh – Chandigarh Express., the CPRO of the NF Railway P J Sharma informed.
Aparna Khatun, aged 24 years, was travelling in the Coach B3 of the train along with her husband Mohammad Gulam from New Tinsukia to Mirzapur. She experienced labour pain enroute and gave birth to a girl. The train was stopped at Nazira station, where RPF personnel along with other railway staff promptly arranged for shifting the mother and child to the Civil hospital at Nazira. Both of the mother and the newborn were stated to be safe.
It is to be mentioned that RPF of the N F Railway has launched a special drive for the security of women and children in railway premises all over N.F. Railway. There has been an increase in assistance calls to 182, the 24 x 7 helpline number.
