SHILLONG: Topper in the HSSLC Science stream from St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Rishav Das on Thursday said he was mostly driven by the interest in the subjects that ensured his way to the top spot.

He told reporters that teachers had been a source of inspiration for him to instill in him the desire to take interest in the subjects.

“There was no regularity in terms of how much time I would spend each day but it was mostly driven by my interest in the subject. It is mainly driven by passion,” he said.

Meanwhile, Commerce topper from St Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Chongdeinem Guite pointed out she has been consistent throughout the years and maintained her time properly.

“For this exam, the school has been providing us with question banks. I cleared doubts by asking the teachers and seek help from classmates,” the soft spoken topper said.

She added studying daily is the basis for the achievement and during the exams she put in 2-3 hours of study daily.

“Besides my classes and tuitions, I balanced my studying time with my hobbies of reading, gardening,” she said adding that she mostly turns to reading while staying in a hostel in Shillong and does her gardening hobby back in Manipur.

Thanking God, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff and tuition teachers, she said, “Everything is not possible on our own but I have faith in God.”

She urged fellow students to take classes and lectures seriously and to maintain sincerity towards the teachers, parents and to have a good circle of friends.
