GUWAHATI: Arunachal Pradesh government has paved the way for acquisition of land for the greenfield airport at Hollongi in Papum Pare district with the state cabinet approving the  detail report on the status of land ownership that is to be submitted to the Union government for beginning the process of land acquisition for the project.

The state Cabinet has approved the report submitted by the committee headed by under Nabam Rebia, Minister for Land Management, on the greenfield airport at Hollongi and approved its recommendations for onward submission to the Central Government thereby paving the way for early realisation of the dream project.

The report has details on the status of ownership of land measuring 948.56 acres at Hollongi for construction of the airport as sought by the central government.

Meanwhile, in a decision that will fast-track the process of digital connectivity in the landlocked frontier state, Arunachal Government has approved a policy for granting the Right of Way (RoW) for telecom infrastructure in the state. It has been done as a follow-up to the review meeting held by Union Minister of State for Communications (I/C) Manoj Sinha last month, an official source said.

The Communication Ministry has launched an initiative on a mission mode to digitally connect all unconnected district headquarters and villages in the state and had sought cooperation from the state government. The policy approved by the state government would now bring uniformity, clarity and simplify the process of installing infrastructure like mobile towers, OFC lines (underground and over-ground), microwave antennas etc., in rural and urban areas of the state.
