Workshop on Project STAR held in Tura

TURA:  With a view to guide and prepare the students to appear for various competitive examinations like Civil Services Examination and UPSC Examinations, Workshop on Project Star- School Transformation by Augmenting Resources was organized at SMELC, Conference Hall, Dakopgre, Tura on Friday evening which is an initiative of the District Administration, West Garo Hills, District.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Ram Singh urged the students to dream high adding that those who achieve success are dreamers. Emphasizing on the level of competition that is taking place these days, he said that maintaining the syllabus and method of preparing is important for achieving success in the examinations.

Moreover, he called upon the students to study their lessons with commitment and ambition during student life and insist on the teachers, parents to motivate the students and help to build a strong society.

Sub-Divisional Officer, Dadenggre, Civil Sub-Division and Resource Person, Swapnil Tembe highlighted the guidelines for appearing the Civil Services Examination and Union Public Service Commission Examinations. Basing on his survey of schools especially in the villages, he said that building a good foundation during the primary level is crucial for the overall development of a student and excel in his future career.

Further, while explaining the strategy, he stated that communication skills, confidence, dedication, reading books and newspapers, writing skills, smart guessing are few essential requirements of the aspirant. Mentioning about the various job opportunities available in the cities like food blogger, travel blogger, wildlife photography, etc., he said that profession can be made nowadays and people should know their prospect.

Meanwhile, in the era of smart gadgets, smart preparations should be made by the students, he said. Pointing to time management factor, he said that there is no need for a student to study over again and again if a student pays attention in the class since time is wasted mostly by not being efficient.

He then informed about the conduct of the examination starting with Preliminary examination comprising of Multiple Choice Question, Main examination and personality test. The Workshop will be organized in different schools and colleges in the district, he said.
