Two highway robbers nabbed by EGH Police

 TURA: Two persons have been arrested by East Garo Hills Police for attempting to rob vehicles by waylaying them at Rongjeng Reserve Forest area sometime during the night of May 11 and 12.

Police said that after receiving information of their activity, all check points in the area were alerted and checking of vehicles began. During the checking, police intercepted two persons on a TVS bike bearing registration number- ML 07A-4155. A search of the duo led to the recovery of one 9mm Uzi, magazine pouch and one .32 pistol.

The two accused, Tangrik K Sangma (25) and Chonkam G Momin were immediately arrested.

“We arrested the duo on Saturday morning. The weapons were recovered from the bag pack and body of Tangrik who was riding the bike,” District police chief, Ringrang T G Momin said.

A case has been registered in this connection at Williamnagar Police Station.Meanwhile, efforts are being made by police to find out and nab any others who might be involved in the crime.
