SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) in a memorandum submitted to the Inspector General (IG) BSF on Bangladeshis intruding into the Indian territory to lift stone boulders from Dawki area.

The organisation stated that up to 50 boats of Bangladeshis were intruding into the Indian land with the sole purpose of lifting the boulders from Indian Territory under the jurisdiction of in the BSF outpost at Dawki.

The organisation alleged the incidences of boulders lifting occurred under the nose of the BSF personnel posted in the area who choose to turn a blind eye to the illegal activities of the foreign intruders.

The HNYF pointed out the BSF had necessary equipment to counter such illegal activities.  Further, the organisation said that on May 2 at 2 AM, the residents of Darrang, Dawki had to take matters into their own hands by chasing away the Bangladeshi boat and apprehending two of those.

“These Bangladeshis even dared to cross more than 700 meters inside the Indo –Bangla border to carry out their illegal activities,” the organisation said.

In this connection, the HNYF which is also one of the organisations under the CCIB on border fencing, appealed the IG to take immediate steps to stop the illegal activities before the matter went out of hand as there might direct conflict between Bangladeshi intruders and locals of the area.
