Two highway robbers held in East Garo Hills

TURA: Two persons have been arrested for attempting to rob vehicles by waylaying them at Rongjeng Reserve Forest area on the night of May 11.
East Garo Hills police said after receiving information, all check points in the area were alerted and checking of vehicles began.
During the checking, police intercepted two persons on a TVS bike bearing registration number ML 07A-4155. A search of the duo led to the recovery of a 9mm Uzi, magazine pouch and one .32 pistol.
The two accused have been identified as Tangrik K Sangma (25) and Chonkam G Momin. They were arrested on Saturday morning, district police chief Ringrang TG Momin said.
A case has been registered in this connection at Williamnagar police station.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made by police to arrest other members of the gang.
