CBI arrests ONGC official while taking bribe

GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a deputy general manager of the ONGC on Wednesday after catching him red handed receiving bribe.

The CBI office here informed that an FIR bearing No. RC0172018A0007 was registered on May 15 , 2018 U/S 7 of the PC Act, 1988 on the basis of a written complaint received in the CBI Branch. The complainant alleged that the accused A. K Singh, Dy. General Manager (D), ONGC, Assam Asset, Sivasagar, Assam was demanding bribe of Rs 12 Lakhs for passing his pending bills.

The accused was caught red handed while he was demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 2 Lakhs from the complainant on Wednesday.

The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI in Guwahati on Thursday. Searches are being conducted at the residential and official address of the arrested ONGC official.
