Nepal President grants amnesty to 816 prisoners

Kathmandu:  Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday granted amnesty to 816 prisoners, a presidential spokesman said here.
Chhabindra Parajuli, the spokesman at the President’s Office, said that the 816 inmates were granted amnesty on the occasion of the 11th Republic Day in line with the Article 276 of the constitution, reports Xinhua news agency.
On Monday, a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli had recommended the President grant amnesty to the prisoners. (IANS)
