Misconduct
Toiron Sing Lyndem lodged a complaint that on November 5, 2015, some meters belonging to office the Divisional Engineer, NE Task Force, BSNL, were send to M/s Priya Enterprise to check the technical default if any and to submit the estimate cost for the said work at the earliest. However, the firm never intimated the Department about the repair, but claimed Rs. 7,62,415 as repairing cost, without any work order or confirmation letter sanctioned by BSNL.
Woman duped
On May 28, Baiamonlang Wanniang lodged a complaint that she has been duped. The woman registered herself in a website called Naukri.com after which she received one anonymous phone call, wherein the caller informed her that there is a job available for her, however, she has to deposit Rs. 1,900 on May 17 in State Bank of India account. After depositing the money, the complainant received a Joining Form through Whatsapp and on May 16, she was asked to deposit another Rs. 7,200 and later she was again asked to deposit Rs. 13,500.
NGT ban violation
On May 28 around 11.40 am, Police detained three persons while extracting coal from a coal quarry in violation of NGT order at Jarain village in East Jaintia Hills. The arrested persons are Shyam Rai (43), Uddin (42), Mahindra Das and Abdul Basir.
On the other hand, three other were held from Nongjri village. The arrested persons are Patmo Das, Ruben Murmu and Kanak Murmu.
Miscreants torch wine shop in WKH
On May 28, miscreants set fire to the closed-down wine store co-owned by Torreswell Tyrsa and two others at Kinkba village under Mawrok-Porsohsat in West Khasi Hills.
Six injured in separate accidents
On May 28 morning, an accident took place between one truck (NL-02L-8159) driven by Sistal Singh (57) and a Maruti car (ML-06-5505) driven by Esser Lyngkhoi (54) at Umdishit village in West Khasi Hills. As a result, five occupants of the Maruti car sustained injuries and were admitted at TSM Hospital, Mairang for treatment.
On May 29 at 11.45 am, an accident took place between one truck (AS-01GC-8950) and one auto-rickshaw (ML-10A-8342) at Rajabagan, Byrnihat (RB). As a result, one occupant of the auto-rickshaw sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Nongpoh. Matter is under enquiry.
Theft
Tobarlin Marwein lodged a complaint that on May 27, Yesparland Wanniang (26) stole spare parts and wiring units from a truck (JH-01AM-8169) belonging to Donkupar Katrai, which was parked at Mawrusyiar village . Police arrested the accused and seize the stolen articles from his possession.
Wanshwa Shylla lodged a complaint that on May 24 around 12 pm, miscreants broke into his house at Byndihati, East Jaintia Hills and stole cash Rs. 40,000 and a gold chain valued around Rs. 40,000.
Kyrshanlang Lyngdoh lodged a complaint that on May 19 at 1.30 am and on May 24 around 1 am, miscreants stole thirty-six numbers of batteries and twenty metres long copper cables from a Vodafone Tower at Tuberkmaishnong (EJH).
Dr. Lumborlang Mawsor lodged a complaint that on May 28, miscreants broke into his clinic at Nonbah, Upper New Nongstoin (WKH) and stole cash Rs. 6,000.
On May 28 around 12.30 pm, miscreants stole one cell-phone and cash Rs. 7,000 from the residence of Canaanson T.S at Pohktieh, Nongthymmai, Shillong.
On April 13, 2018 at 8.30 pm, miscreants stole five cell-phones from the residence of Pranab Sikdar at Rilbong, Shillong.
Traffic brawl
Jenias R Marak lodged a complaint that on May 27 around 10.30 am, one white Hyundai Creta vehicle was in the middle of the road and blocking his vehicle at Fire Brigade junction near Seventh Day Adventist Church, Shillong, leading to an altercation between the complainant and the driver of the Creta.
Two held for extortion call
Nazil R Sangma lodged a complaint that on the first week of May and on May 25, miscreants demanded Rs. 2 lakh from him over phone and also threatened him with dire consequences. However, the culprits identified as Dipit Ch Marak and Raksneg Ch Marak, were apprehended with the help of public and handed over to the police.
Man assaulted
Wandashisha Suting lodged a complaint that on May 25, Dalinda Mawrie, Agusta Mawrie and Bakswon Mawrie assaulted her brother, Shanborlang Suting at Laitkor, causing injuries to him. The victim was admitted at CH Shillong.
