SHILLONG: The Jaiaw Dorbar Shnong Laitdom petitioned Chief Minister Conrad Sangma by giving suggestions to improve the ongoing law and order situation in Shillong.
In an emergent meeting on Monday, the Dorbar Shnong urged the state government to instruct Home Department to stop patrolling into their locality as police presence has aggravated the already tensed situation.
Stating that the incident of assault of three Khasi boys has led to communal tension, the Dorbar Shnong requested the government to arrest the culprits involved with their names flashed and demanded Sweeper Lane to be removed and relocated.
The executive committee of the Dorbar also condemns the “unethical statement” made by Director General of Police (DGP) on the FIR and the compromise where police department delayed to arrest the “real culprits”.
The Dorbar Shnong also demanded that the arrested persons should be released immediately without any conditions.
The Executive committee argued that educational institutions should be closed down in entire Shillong till law and order improves as the partial shutdown has affected schools in the areas.
The Dorbar Shnong also urged the state government to instruct the concerned Departrnent to make an advance announcement through P.A. System on any matter related Law and to Order (e.g. imposition of curfew and its relaxation etc) to their locality.
