5 CRPF jawans hurt in Mawlai camp attack

SHILLONG: Five CRPF personnel were injured after miscreants attacked the central forces’ camp at Mawlai bridge on the night of June 3, police said.
Pramod Kumar, Commander F Coy, 67 Bn CRPF, lodged a complaint that on the intervening night of June 3 and 4, around 400 civilians attacked the camp, lobbed petrol bombs and used catapults against CRPF personnel causing injuries to ASI K C Daloi, constables Kairappa, Tarapat Roy, Indramani and K Deka.
To disperse the crowd, CRPF personnel used 18 rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm ammunition, 19 long-range shells, five stun shells, 49 rubber bullets, nine stun grenades and 10 tear smoke grenades.
One civilian Harlon Disiar (44) of Mawlai Wahumkhrah was apprehended and handed over to Lumdiengjri police.
