SHILLONG: Public transport service in the city has become normal after days of violence.
On Wednesday, SPTS buses and maxi cabs were plying as usual. Urban Affairs Minister Hamlet Dohling said the buses have started regular service as the curfew timings have been relaxed.
Reacting to a query, he said the buses were not plying for a few days since there were no passengers in the city because of the situation and the buses and they did not want to incur any expenditure by wasting fuel.
After the recent incident, the SPTS buses did not ply in the city for a few days leading to inconvenience of commuters.
As the buses were off the road, Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar had to take up the issue with Urban and Municipal officials.
