SHILLONG: The Syiem of Hima Mylliem on Monday wrote to the Directorate of Land Record and Survey, following a meeting with the KHADC, for conducting a joint survey at Them Iew Mawlong.
Addressing reporters after the meeting on Monday, KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem said, “Hima Mylliem will write to the Survey department of the state government to go for joint survey between the Hima Mylliem and the Shillong Municipal Board.”
According to him, the joint survey will confirm whether the areas fall under the jurisdiction of the municipal board or the Hima Mylliem.
“The land will be surveyed and only then the matter can proceed. The Hima Mylliem has also got necessary materials in hand, which will take the issue forward,” Syiem added.
Iew Mawlong is spread over 33,000 sq ft and the survey will help to know the exact area. (Contd on P-10)
Meanwhile, a senior functionary of Punjabi Lane said they would wait for the High Level Committee report.
