SHILLONG: The youth wing of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) raised suspicions on the results declared for the posts of watchman at office of Food Corporation of India (FCI).

In a statement issued here, KHNAM youth wing president, Thomas Passah said the FCI called for an application for 19 posts of watchman and expressed surprise that the name of only one Khasi person was listed out of 57 names.

The Khnam maintained that central offices within the jurisdiction of the state should have given preference to the unemployed youth of the state.

They met the general manager of the FCI who explained to them on why the Khasis did not make it to the list.

The youth wing of the regional political party has urged the state government to come up with legislation for reserving jobs for youth from the state in the offices especially for grade IV staff.
