Reacting to a query about the release of agitators who  are still in jail, Malngiang said that the Government had released a number of them in recent past  though some unconditionally and some through bail

“ We can’t let off everybody since there are some boys who were  involved in the recent incidents  while some are innocent  and  Government is studying the matter ,” he said

Earlier, relatives of the 68 people who were arrested during the recent violence in the city had asked the state government to keep its promise and release them unconditionally.

The parents had also maintained that Government had sent three legislators Banteidor Lyngdoh, Adelbert Nongrum and Lambor Malngiang — on the night of June 4 to calm down protesters and the three legislators had read out a letter that mentioned about the constitution of the High Level Committee and the release of the youths after which stone pelting came to a halt in the city.
