Registration
Online Registration for IGNOU Convocation is open for students completing in December 2016 & June 2017 at the website www.ignou.ac.in. Last date for registration is June 30, 2018.
Condemnation
Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Students’ Association has condemned the bizarre incident in which two youths, Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath, were beaten to death by a mob in Karbi Anglong district. The youths were suspected to be child abductors by the mob. The organisation in a press statement demanded a thorough probe into the incident to punish the culprits.
Convocation
Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road, Shillong will hold a convocation for students of Computer and Language trainees of the centre in the institute premises on June 13 at 3:30 pm. Minister of Information Technology and Communication department, Hamletson Dohling will attend as the chief guest. Distribution of computer gifts, certificates and scholarships will also be held. Certificates of Microsoft and Adobe, USA will also be issued to the youth of the region through online testing at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre in association with the Govt of Meghalaya.
Competition
Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban , Shillong will organise the 11th Inter Shillong Cultural Event from June. On June 17, Rabindra sangeet, folk song & dance on Tagore song competition will be held at RLSSCO Auditorium (Bishnupur Community Hall) behind Sankardev College, Bishnupur. On June 24, marathon, art, fun games, essay & quiz will be held. The marathon will be held at Batti Bazar, Laban while the other competition will be held at Quinee Secondary School, Masjid Road, Laban. On July 1, recitation in English & Bengali will be held at RLSSCO Auditorium. On July 8, Hindi song dance competition will be held at RLSSCO Auditorium.
World Environment Day
The Shillong College unit of the National Service Scheme (NSS) organised competitions in and around Smit village, the adopted village of the unit, to commemorate World Environment Day on June 8. Pleitimai Presbyterian Secondary school at Ur Masi U Joh, Lumkynsai Presbyterian LP and UP school, Umiew Maw-u Sam Presbyterian school at Smit particiated in the event.
