SHILLONG: The United Democratic Party, which is a major ally in the NPP-led MDA government, has lauded the state government for the way it handled the law and order disturbance in the city.
Addressing a gathering at the party’s review meeting on Tuesday on the current situation in Shillong, UDP leader Jemino Mawthoh said even the citizens are happy with the government’s way of working during the unrest.
“This government is working together and is not just a one-man show,” he said and added that the coalition partners have worked together to bring “some kind of understanding about how to tackle the situation”.
While expressing concern over the volatile situation, Mawthoh sounded confident that the issue would be solved and peace would return.
Mawthoh said demanding removal of the colony from Them Iew Mawlong “is not about discriminating against them but rather rehabilitating the residents there”.
