According to the reply to the RTI filed by Meghalaya SSA School Association president Aristotle C Rymbai, study materials for the 2nd year class for D.El.Ed course for the second batch is being printed and uploaded on the NIOS portal. The 2nd year class for D.El.Ed Course for the second batch (2015-17) will commence after printing of study materials is done.
The reply also stated that the Ministry of Human Resources Development has allowed the NIOS to extended the validity period of the D.El.Ed course for the untrained in-service elementary teachers of the first batch for the academic year 2013-15 comprising of 4385 teachers and the second batch for the academic year    2015-17 comprising of 3437 teachers from Meghalaya and has also directed the NIOS to complete the D.El.Ed training within the stipulated time period as per Amendment of the RTE Act passed by the Parliament, within March 31, 2019.
The RTI reply further said that it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure that all in-service untrained teachers in the state acquire the minimum qualifications within the extended period.
Last month, the MSSASA had held a meeting with Dr. Piyush Prasad, Assistant Director of NIOS Regional Office, Guwahati to speed up the matter related to the commencement of 2nd year class for the second batch and the correction of errors of the first batch.
Reading out details of the report received by the association last year from the Jt. Director of Directorate of Educational Research and Training, Govt of Meghalaya, Rymbai said “The reason behind the delay for the 2nd year class for D.El.Ed course for second batch was that the state government had not released funds to the NIOS.”
