City to get Apollo help centre soon

SHILLONG: Apollo Hospitals, one of the premiere health institutions in the country, is all set to open an information centre here to facilitate appointments and follow up care to the people of the state and its neighbours.
“Cardiologists, Oncologists, Nephro-logists, joint replacement surgeons and Gastroenterologists from Apollo hospitals in Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati will visit the centre on a regular basis for consultation”, informed Rana Dasgupta, chief executive officer, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata, at a press conference here on Thursday.
The information centre will be established at Laitumkhrah by the first week of July.
Dasgupta said that Apollo is one of Asia’s trusted healthcare groups with 10,000 beds cross 71 hospitals,2550 pharmacies, over 90 primary care and diagnostic clinics, 110 plus telemedicine centers and 80 plus Apollo Munich Insurance branch.
On the other hand, R Sudharsan vice president marketing, Apollo hospitals, Chennai, said they will soon become the first hospital in South East Asia to have the facility of proton therapy for cancer treatment which is one of the most superior forms of radiation therapy in the world.
Meanwhile, a three-day mega health awareness campaign to prevent and control non communicable diseases would begin here on June 27. The three-day awareness drive will be carried out by the group of hospitals of Apollo from Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati.
