SHILLONG: The prolonged mobile internet ban has irked several residents and pressure groups in the city.
Since the mobile internet has become unavoidable for various reasons, there are concerns from students and those who carry out online purchases.
The leaders of Thma U Rangli Juki (TUR) and Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO), Angela Rangad and Agnes Kharshiing respectively, raised concerns over government suppressing the freedom of people.
They said the police should go after those who send malicious messages instead of imposing a blanket ban.
When contacted, the DGP, S B Singh said that police are making efforts to arrest those who are involved in the hate campaigns.
