CM urged to ensure 5th pay commission benefits to Adhoc lecturers

TURA: Lecturers from the three out of the seven ad-hoc colleges in Meghalaya recently met Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma at his office chamber in Shillong .

The delegation presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging him to look into the matter of extending the provisions of the 5th pay commission to the staff of the ad-hoc Colleges. It also impressed upon him that the ad-hoc colleges have always received the benefits of the previous Pay Commissions and since these colleges also earnestly endeavour towards dispensing of quality higher education in the state of Meghalaya, like their counter parts in the other colleges, a timely dispensation of the financial benefits of the 5th Pay Commission by the government would only boost the morale of the staff of the Ad-hoc Colleges and ensure their steadfast commitment towards the cause of higher education.

According to the delegation, the Chief Minister while responding favourably to their queries and concerns, asked the delegates to accord him time to consult the requisite departments and accordingly address the issue.
