SHILLONG: A massive fire broke out in Iewduh (Bara Bazar) on Sunday afternoon creating panic in an otherwise sensitive area due to the ongoing situation.
A shop keeper identified as Rajiv Kumar said that it was due to a petrol bomb attack.
Narrating the incident, Kumar said that after he forgot his mobile charger, he went back to his shop to take the charger and by that time, four youths came and overpowered him.
While two boys went upstairs of the shop, the other two remained with the shop keeper.
Later, out of fear, the shop keeper fled the area.
According to him, the fire spread from his cosmetic shop (number 370) to the adjoining areas.
The shop was completely damaged in the incident and three godowns where cotton was stored were also gutted.
The shopkeeper said that the boys, who came had carried a bag.
However, when contacted, a police official said that this may be due to short circuit.
